In this high-visibility role, you will serve as Munich Re’s Chief Underwriter for Germany & Austria, shaping underwriting practices and serving as the leading voice in these markets. You will combine medical underwriting expertise with strategic insight to drive innovation and digital transformation, delivering measurable value for clients and Munich Re. You’ll lead, influence senior stakeholders, and own key market initiatives to advance underwriting excellence. Verantwortungsbereiche

• Act as Munich Re's chief underwriting voice for Germany & Austria and build senior-level client relationships
• Independently decide on complex underwriting and risk management matters and guide highly complex cases
• Define market-specific underwriting philosophies, guidelines, and best-practice standards
• Shape underwriting strategies, identify opportunities, and drive innovation in products, services, processes, and digital underwriting solutions
• Advise clients and internal stakeholders on complex underwriting, risk management, and transformation topics
• Own strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects that create measurable value
• Develop and inspire underwriters and consultants, fostering accountability, ownership, and client-centricity

Zentrale Anforderungen

• 10+ years of underwriting experience in Life & Health insurance and/or reinsurance with deep Life and Disability underwriting expertise
• Recognized industry expert with extensive knowledge of the German insurance market and an established professional network
• Proven leadership experience and track record in developing high-performing teams
• Ability to manage senior stakeholders and build trusted relationships at senior management level
• Strong track record in driving underwriting innovation, digital transformation, and strategic change initiatives
• Strategic thinker with commercial acumen, executive presence, and excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
