Lead Underwriter (m/w/d)

In this role, you lead a small underwriting team to manage multi-line underwriting activities, drive data-driven decision making, and ensure compliance with guidelines. You will mentor staff, handle complex marine risk assessments, and partner to improve portfolio performance while maintaining high service levels. Verantwortungsbereiche

• Lead and develop a small underwriting team across multiple product lines
• Conduct financial analysis of new opportunities and guide pricing discussions
• Ensure compliance with Product, Legal, and Audit guidelines
• Evaluate new and renewal marine risks in line with guidelines
• Perform data-driven analysis of submissions, claims history, and loss ratios
• Manage record-keeping and reporting on internal platforms
• Collaborate with claims and data teams on risk trends and portfolio insights
• Support onboarding and training for sales personnel to ensure smooth policy binding

• Experienced and qualified underwriter
• Experience leading a team preferred
• Strong numerical proficiency and MS Excel skills for underwriting analysis
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
• Fluency in German and English required; French or Italian beneficial
• Insurance or underwriting qualification preferred; degree level is a plus
